New Student Communications & Mailings
The New Student Communications process begins after incoming students confirm their acceptance to Duke on May 1st. After this date, you will receive a series of mailings to help with your matriculation to the university. To view an online checklist of action items that you must complete before you arrive, please visit the DukePass portal. All questions regarding matriculation and mailings procedures should be directed to newstudents@duke.edu. Listed below is an outline of the mailings you will receive from Duke prior to your arrival in August.
May
NetID - the NetID is sent alone (combined with Matriculant packet for international students) in a secure envelope and contains information that allows you to access the Duke network and your Duke email account.
Matriculant Packet - the Matriculant packet (also known as the Blue Book) contains information on course registration, housing, dining and orientation. Materials contained in this packet require immediate action!
July
Summer Reading - the summer reading is mailed to all incoming first-year students (included in Matriculant packet for international students). You do not need to purchase this on your own.
Move-in pass - the move-in pass allows you access to campus on first-year move-in day (August 18, 2009). You will only be allowed to access east campus during the time designated on your move-in pass. This pass will be made available electronically when you obtain your housing assignment in July.
August (upon arrival)
When you arrive on campus on August 18th you will pick-up your move-in packet that includes your DukeCard, mailbox key, parking permit (if applicable) and complete Orientation schedule. You can pick this up from 9am-5pm in the East Campus Marketplace on move-in day.
